Extreme Volleyball Professional Lorelee Smith

1) When & how did you start playing volleyball?
I began volleyball through a parks program in Mishawaka, IN. It was a 9 and under coed team that played on the tennis court and net. The beach game was introduced to me thorough my eventual high school coach when I was 13.

2) What is your playing background?
I grew up playing volleyball both indoor and beach throughout Indiana, Michigan and Chicago. Fortunately the sport took me to college in North Carolina where I was able to play for four years as a setter.

3) Where are some of the places you have traveled to play?
I have traveled with my college team throughout the United States. The beach game has taken me mainly to Florida, California, Texas and the Midwest. This year I get to go out east, which will be new!!!

4) What attracted you to the EVP Tour?
The friendliness and organization of the staff. It has a big scene set up with a very local feel. It’s a great tour to be a part of with solid competition and tournament options.

5) What is your most memorable moment play on tour so far?
My partner and I had been beaten pretty badly three times by the same team throughout the summer, and then in the finals of the Chicago Championship we actually pulled out a win. Angie Robbins, my partner, came up with a great overhead dig followed by a put away for the final point.

6) What are your favorite foods, music, books?
Food: Pizza, beans and ice cream. (All together Lorelee?? Clear the room!!)
Music: Rap or Hip Hop and Oldies
Books: The Left Behind & Harry Potter series.

7) What is your favorite thing to do besides volleyball?
Now don’t hate me but I actually really enjoy my job - Head Women’s Volleyball coach for Lewis University. I also love watching movies and visiting family and friends.

8) Why recycling 70% of your waste is so important?
We have been given only one planet to live on and unless things change we are slowing destroying it. By recycling we can ensure beaches for future volleyball players.
