Chris Morissey - EVP Chicago

When and how did you start playing volleyball?
I first touched a volleyball in 7th grade, on a clay court for gym class; unfortunately I would not play volleyball again until I was in my twenties at the apartment complex court in Orlando where I was living. From that meager start I teamed up with my roommate to compete in the Florida Law Enforcement Olympics. We did not win or even place, but we did knock off the previous year’s bronze medal winners.

What is your playing background?
My background went quickly from playing 4 person with a bunch of yahoos to two person competitive beach, never spent much time playing 6s indoor, except on the rare occasion. I’m not used to having so many people on the court.

Where are some of the places you have traveled to play?
Until this year my travels have been limited to the state of Florida, but I have certainly covered this state thoroughly, from the panhandle all the way down to South Beach and back again.

What attracted you to the EVP Tour?
I was first attracted as an opportunity to up the level of competition I competed against; but the friendly people involved from players to administrators to spectators make it a great tour with a fantastic atmosphere; and of course there is the Corona Light.

What is your most memorable moment on tour so far?
Since I am a "rookie" to the EVP Tour this year, I don’t have many moments to choose from yet; but most memorable for now was when my teammate Lon seriously six packed Craig during our second match at Isle of Palms, SC.

What are your favorite foods, music, books?
What are my favorites: Food: I would have to say my mom’s spaghetti, it’s really just a Kraft mix she used, but to me its mom’s. Music: I listen to a little of everything from time to time, but bands that currently top my list are Nickleback and Green Day; of course Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffet and Elvis are timeless. Books: I have not done much recreational reading recently, but I used to keep up with anything by Carl Hiaasen. I also recall reading "Into Thin Air" and " The Climb" ; the two version about the 96 Everest tragedy.

What is your favorite thing to do besides volleyball?
Is there something else besides volleyball? I enjoy most sports, skiing, surfing, but favorite would be relaxing with friends and family with some cold Corona Light. Gotta keep the sponsor happy.

What are you doing to aid in recycling 70% of your waste?
I recycle all my empties of Corona Light. I’m such the corporate shill.
